Baby Registry Must Have’s: Halo SleepSack Swaddles

I now understand why people get set in their ways when it comes to baby products! When your kid likes something, it’s just not worth it to look for other options or risk testing something else out!

As I started searching for products, I came across swaddling. I like the use of swaddle blankets was going to be really time consuming and more effort than any person needs at 4 in the morning, so I immediately narrowed my search to velcro and zip up swaddles/sleep sacks. Additionally, despite knowing swaddling was important, it took some research to recognize why it was important. Here are some of the reasons I found:

  1. Helps with the prevention of SIDS

  2. Mimics the feeling of being in the womb

  3. Reduces the impact when a baby is startled, helping the sleep through any sudden jolts.

  4. Helps babies regulate their body temperature, which they can’t do on their own.

  5. Eliminates the need for blankets which are unsafe for newborns.

  6. Can lengthen the amount of time a baby sleeps by helping with all of the above, and no one will ever complain about that!

When Dylan was in the NICU, we were given a Halo SleepSack Swaddle to keep him safe, warm and cozy. In addition to the benefits above, the Halo SleepSack Swaddle gave us Some options. we could swaddle Dylan with arms In, Out, or both! The adjustable Velcro gave us the flexibility to test out how cozy he wanted to be and with a zip-up “sleeping bag” the velcro swaddle sleeves wrap up around an already secure and warm baby. because they zip from the top down, you don’t even have to take it off to fully change a diaper either, which we all know is one of the best things when you’re changing so many in a day. It also made for an easy exit for all the wires we needed for monitoring in the NICU. (PS. It’s crazy to think he’s out of this sleepsack and these pjs already!)

we learned quick that Dyl loves his hands up near his face, he didnt seem to mind his arms bundled up, but we decided to go with his natural sleep position, and to this day you can still see his hands up by his cheeks.

We loved the SleepSack so much, we’ve now upgraded to a newborn size, and bought a lighter weight option for days when we have the AC off and only need a light weight wrap.

Here are some quick links to buy your very own!
